The National Institute of Technology, Calicut, is one of the premier engineering institutes in India. The institute is renowned for its exceptional academic standards and state-of-the-art facilities. According to the NIRF ranking for 2024, NIT Calicut is ranked 25th among the top colleges. Admission to NIT Calicut is highly competitive; therefore, it is essential to understand the qualifying factors, cutoff marks, and other important details.

In this blog, we will cover all the essential information needed to familiarise students with the admission process.

About NIT Calicut:

The NIT Calicut was established in 1961 as a Regional Engineering College (REC) and became a National Institute of Technology in 2002. The institute offers bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree programs in engineering, science, technology, and management. NITC has 11 undergraduate and 29 postgraduate programs, including an MBA. There has been a significant increase in doctoral-level research in recent years, evidenced by a notable rise in the number of published research papers and patents produced.

The campus is situated approximately 22 kilometres northeast of Calicut in Kerala, India. It stretches about 1.5 kilometres along the Calicut-Mukkam road and covers roughly 120 hectares. As a fully residential institute, the campus is equipped with academic buildings, research laboratories, hostels, faculty residences, and various other amenities within its infrastructure.

NIT Calicut: JoSAA Cut-Off 2024

The JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) annually organises the counselling process for undergraduate engineering courses. Below, we are sharing the home state and outside state opening rank (Round 1) and closing rank (Round 5) of NIT Calicut.

Factors Affecting CutOff Marks:

Several factors influence the cutoff marks of NIT Calicut:

Number of Applicants: Higher competition results in higher cutoffs.

Difficulty level of the JEE Main Exam: The cutoff marks also depend on the difficulty level of the exam; the tougher the exam, the lower the cutoff marks and vice versa.

Seat Matrix: Each branch’s seat matrix is crucial in determining the cutoffs.

Previous Year Trends: The previous year’s cutoff trends help predict changes in the current year.
