NEET-UG 2023 Exam

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), formerly known as the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT), is an All-India pre-medical entrance exam for medical aspirants organised by NTA (National Testing Agency) to provide admissions in MBBS, BDS & Ayush courses in various government and private institutions in India, as well as for those wishing to pursue primary medical qualification abroad.
Following the "Common and Uniform Exam" policy, NEET has now emerged as the one-tier 'Common Entrance Test' for various medical courses, replacing all state-level entrance exams as well as the AIIMS and JIPMER entrance exams. Every year the exam is conducted in the pen-paper-based mode in May. After the result declaration, the MCI (Medical Council of India) allocates seats in various colleges based on students' NEET score/rank and category.

NEET-UG Eligibility Criteria

All students planning to take the NEET examination should review the eligibility requirements before applying. NEET-UG aspirants must fulfil the minimum and maximum age criteria, educational requirements, courses studied in the qualifying exam, qualifying exam status, category, and nationality as per the prescribed NEET-UG eligibility criteria by NMC (National Medical Commission).

NEET UG Application Process

The NEET-UG Application Process is entirely online. Candidates have to register online on NTA's official NEET portal. They must fill out the application form, upload the required scanned documents, and pay the examination fee to successfully apply for the NEET-UG examination.
Only those candidates who met the NEET-UG exam's eligibility criteria can proceed to the NEET registration process and submit the application form. Failing to do so will result in their application would be cancelled. Candidates may expect an application correction facility to make essential modifications after completing the application procedure.

Opportunity for NRI/POI/GCC Resident Students in NEET-UG

Aside from the 15% All India Quota and the 85% State Quota, there is also a 15% designated special quota for NRIs (Non-Residents Indians) known as the NRI Quota.
MCI has exclusively reserved the NRI quota for students who live and study outside India yet are originally from the country. Therefore, NRI students can easily acquire admission in these 15% reserved seats and study in prestigious Indian medical institutes via NRI Quota. The NRI Quota also includes Persons of Indian Origin (POI) and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI). However, all candidates must pass the NEET UG examination.

NEET-UG Exam Fee for GCC /PIO / NRI

The NEET-UG exam fee is to be submitted while filling out the application form via online mode only. Below are the details of the NEET-UG 2023 exam fee:

NTA accepts exam fees via Credit Card, Debit Card, Net-Banking, UPI, and Paytm. Although the payable amount varies for Indian candidates based on their category, for GCC, PIO, and NRI candidates, a fixed amount has to be paid, excluding the processing charges & Goods and Services Tax (GST).

NEET-UG Admit Card

The NTA is also in charge of issuing the NEET UG admit card for the entrance examination. Aspirants should be aware that they will only be permitted to sit for the exam if they have a valid NEET admit card and photo ID proof. Once made available, the NEET admit card can be downloaded from the NTA's official website. Candidates are recommended to preserve a soft copy of their NEET admit card until the admission procedure is completed.

NEET -UG Exam Centres Abroad

From 2021 onwards, reciprocating the Indian expatriates' demand, NTA announced overseas centres for the NEET-UG examination, including centres in GCC.

NEET-UG Exam Pattern

The National Medical Commission (NMC) will determine the NEET-UG 2023 syllabus. Something every candidate should keep a lookout for. In addition to the syllabus, they must also keep an eye out for the exam pattern. The pre-medical examination is conducted offline (pen and paper-based mode). Candidates have a total of 3 hours and 20 minutes to complete 180 minimum multiple-choice questions (MCQs) out of a total of 200. Questions  The questions are asked from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany & Zoology).

NEET-UG Exam Dates

The NEET-UG examination 2023 will be held on 7th May 2023. All the aspiring candidates are advised to complete their entire syllabus well on time leaving enough time for revision and practice at the end.

Here are a few NEET preparation tips to help candidates ace their exams:
  • Make a study timetable for exam preparation and stick to it religiously.

NEET-UG Syllabus

As prescribed by the MCI, the syllabus of NEET-UG includes all chapters and topics of class 11th & 12th NCERT of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. To qualify for the exam, students must prepare every subject and topic of the prescribed syllabus thoroughly.

NEET-UG Answer Key

After the commencement of the exam, NTA will announce the provisional answer key and display the scanned images of OMR Answer Sheets and recorded responses by the machine, of all candidates on its official website.
If a candidate is dissatisfied with the answer, they can question the answer key by paying a non-refundable processing fee of ₹ 200/- per answer challenged. If found correct, the answer key will be revised accordingly and then the Final Answer Key will be announced.

NEET-UG Result

Tentatively the NEET-UG 2023 exam result will be announced online in July 2023. Candidates can view and print their results by visiting the NTA website. To view the result, students must provide their login information, which includes their roll number and date of birth. The result will be prepared in accordance with the Final Answer Key.

NEET-UG Cut-offs

Following the result, NTA will announce the NEET 2023 cut-off marks and percentile. A cut-off score is the minimum marks required to qualify for the exam.
The NEET cut-off is divided into two categories:
  • Admission cut-off
  • Qualifying cut-off
Admission cut-off is the last rank at which a candidate will be admitted, whereas Qualifying cut-off is the minimum marks that a candidate must score to pass the exam.
The cut-off is determined by several factors, including the difficulty level of the exam, the number of candidates, their performance, and so on.

NEET-UG Sample Papers

NEET-UG sample papers give candidates a fair idea about the exam pattern, question type, difficulty level, topics covered, marking scheme, and level of preparation.
In addition, solving the NEET sample papers will improve the candidate’s confidence, time management skills, and problem-solving speed. Hence it is recommended for all aspirants to solve as many sample papers as they can before the exam.
