International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) Overview

International Olympiad in Informatics, or IOI, is an International-level Olympiad in Informatics, held annually for students pursuing higher secondary education and not enrolled in any university.
Informatics combines the mathematics and computer application disciplines together. The subject has gained a lot of interest from students, and the olympiad is a means to promote it. The International Olympiad in Informatics 2023 will be held in Szeged, Hungary, from August 28 to September 4, 2023.

IOI Objective

IOI is conducted with the following objectives:
  • To help students build international connections among informatics educators and computer scientists.
  • To promote informatics among young people.
  • To influence a healthy competition, thereby recognising talented young people and promoting their interest in informatics among them.
  • To encourage countries to organise future IOI.

IOI Schedule

This will be the 35th International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), 2023. It was conducted in Szeged, Hungary, from 28th August to - 4th September 2023.

IOI Eligibility

For students to be eligible for IOI 2023, they must qualify for the IOI as per the eligibility guidelines mentioned below.
  • The student is currently in higher secondary (Class 12).
  • The student is not enrolled in any university.
  • The student is not older than 20 years on 1 July of the year of IOI.
