Quick Answer

NTA has opened JEE Main 2027 Session 1 registration. You can apply online on jeemain.nta.nic.in from 24th October to 22nd November 2026, up to 11:50 PM. A late window with an extra fee of ₹500 runs from 23rd to 26th November, and the correction window runs from 27th to 29th November. The Session 1 exam dates have also changed. The exam will now be held on 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, and 28 January 2027. For JEE Main Session 2, registration runs from 5th January to 3rd February 2027, with a late fee window from 4th to 7th February and a correction window from 8th to 10th February. The Session 2 exam will be held on 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 April 2027.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has opened registration for JEE Main 2027 Session 1 through a public notice dated 24 October 2026. Students can apply online on jeemain.nta.nic.in for Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech), Paper 2A (B.Arch), and Paper 2B (B.Planning). The exam will be a computer-based test in 13 languages, except the Drawing Test of Paper 2A, which will be on paper. Each candidate can submit only one application form.

JEE Main 2027 Session 1 Registration Open

The last date to apply is 22 November 2026, and you must pay the fee by 11:50 PM on the same day. If you miss it, you can still apply in the late window, but you will pay an extra ₹500. This late fee is the same for all categories.

• Registration starts: 24 October 2026
• Last date to apply and pay the fee: 22 November 2026, up to 11:50 PM
• Late application window: 23 to 26 November 2026, up to 11:50 PM, with an extra fee of ₹500

Why Should You Apply Before the Last Date?

Do not wait for the final day. Heavy traffic near the deadline can slow down form filling and fee payment. Also, your application is confirmed only after the fee is paid, and you get the confirmation page only after a successful payment. So, finish your form early.

What Are the JEE Main 2027 Session 1 Important Dates?

NTA has announced the Session 1 dates in the Information Bulletin. Here is the complete schedule. All form and fee deadlines end at 11:50 PM.

What Can You Change in the Correction Window?

The Session 1 correction window runs from 27 to 29 November 2026, up to 11:50 PM. NTA gives you one correction chance after you submit the form. Keep these points in mind:

• You can edit only the fields that NTA enables, and the list of fields is published when the window opens.
• NTA does not accept corrections sent by post, fax, WhatsApp, email, or in person.
• After the window closes, no changes are allowed, so check your name, date of birth, category, and exam cities carefully.
• The language you choose for the question paper cannot be changed after the correction window closes.
• The category you enter is also used for JEE Advanced, so fill it carefully.

When Can You Download the Admit Card?

The Session 1 admit card will be available on the JEE Main official Website from 13 January 2027, after the city intimation slip on 30 December 2026. Your admit card shows your exam date, shift, and centre. Remember these points:

• Print at least four copies of your admit card.
• Carry the printed admit card with the self-declaration, two extra passport-size photographs (same as in your form), and one original valid photo ID.
• Reach your centre two hours before the exam, because the gates close 30 minutes before the exam starts.
• If you cannot download your admit card, call the NTA helpline between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM, or email NTA before the exam.

Revised JEE Main 2027 Session 1 Exam Dates

The Session 1 exam dates have changed. Earlier, the tentative dates were 22 to 24 and 28 to 30 January 2027. The revised dates are 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, and 28 January 2027.

• The exam starts earlier: It now begins on 20 January, two days before the earlier date.
• The exam ends earlier: The last exam day is now 28 January, not 30 January.
• Shift timings: For the 3-hour papers, the shifts run from 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon and from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM (IST). The 3-hour 30-minute papers run until 12:30 PM and 6:30 PM.
• Your date and shift: You will find them on your admit card.
• Pattern: Each subject has 20 multiple-choice questions and 5 numerical-value questions. A correct answer earns 4 marks, and a wrong answer costs 1 mark in both sections.

How to Apply Online for JEE Main 2027 Session 1?

Follow these steps to fill the application form. Read the Information Bulletin before you start.

1. Visit the JEE Main official Website, and open the JEE Main 2027 Session 1 registration link.
2. Register through the government’s MeriPehchaan single sign-on, using your name, date of birth, and mobile number, and verify your identity with eKYC such as Aadhaar, PAN, Driving Licence, or APAAR.
3. Create a password and note down your application number. You will need it for both sessions.
4. Log in and fill in your personal details, paper choice, exam cities, and educational details.
5. Upload your live photograph, scanned photograph, signature, and other documents.
6. Pay the application fee online, and download the confirmation page.

Use your own or your parent’s or guardian’s email ID and mobile number. One mobile number and one email ID can be used for only one application form. Also, never submit more than one application, because NTA can cancel your result for it.

JEE Main 2027 Application Fees

The fee depends on your paper, your category, your gender, and whether your exam centre is in India or outside India. This table shows the fee for one paper in one session.

• Applying for more than one paper costs more. For example, a general male candidate pays ₹2,000 for two or more papers at a centre in India.
• The late fee is ₹500 extra for the same fee categories for applications from 23 to 26 November 2026.
• Processing charges and GST are extra, and you pay the fee separately for each session.
• Pay online through credit card, debit card, net banking, or UPI.
• NTA does not refund the fee once it is paid. Only failed or duplicate payments are handled under its refund process.

Which Documents Are Required for JEE Main 2027 Registration?

Keep these documents ready before you start the form. The formats and sizes below are from the Information Bulletin.

• Photograph: Use a recent colour photo with 80% of your face visible, including your ears, without a mask, against a white background.
• Your own documents: Upload only your own photograph, signature, and certificates. Using someone else’s is treated as unfair means.
• Keep it clear: Every scanned file must be clearly legible, because you cannot change it after the correction window.

How Can NRI and Gulf Students Apply for JEE Main 2027?

NRI and Gulf students apply on the same website, but a few points need extra care. Here is what to remember.

• The fee depends on your exam center: If you choose a centre outside India, you pay the outside-India fee. If you choose a centre in India, you pay the India fee.
• Choose four exam cities: You select up to four cities in order of priority. If your present or permanent address is outside India, you must choose at least one city in India.
• The paper language: At centers outside India, the question paper is in English.
• Foreign nationals and OCI: Upload a scanned copy of your non-Indian passport. An Indian citizen living abroad is not a foreign national, so select your nationality correctly.
• Match your details: Keep your name and date of birth the same across your passport, school certificates, and application form.
• Plan around the new dates: Update your travel and school leave for 20 to 28 January 2027.

For a look at how city slips worked for Gulf students last year, read our post on the JEE Main 2026 Session 2 city slip for Middle East NRI students.

ALLEN Overseas advice for NRI students in the Gulf: Apply early, and do not wait for the last date. Save your application number and password in a safe place.

What Should You Do Before the Registration Window Closes?

• Read the bulletin: Check eligibility, the paper pattern, and the rules on the official website.
• Keep documents ready: Scan your photograph, signature, and Class 10 certificate in the right format.
• Fill the form carefully: Check your name, date of birth, paper, and exam cities before you submit.
• Pay on time: Pay the fee by 22 November 2026 to avoid the late fee.
• Save your details: Download the confirmation page and note your application number and password.
• Keep preparing: Do not stop studying while you apply, because the exam is only a few weeks away.

JEE Main 2027 Session 2: Registration and Exam Schedule

NTA has also announced the schedule for Session 2, which will be held in April 2027. Registration for this session opens in January.

You apply for Session 2 separately, using the same application number, and you pay a separate fee. You do not have to appear in both sessions, and NTA uses the better of your two NTA scores if you appear in both.
