]]> The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) commenced online applications for the 2024 counselling process on Monday (10 June). This year, counselling will be conducted in five rounds. With the start of the counselling, JoSAA also released the seat matrix. This year, 295 choices of 23 IITs, 32 NITs, 26 IIITs, and 570 choices of 40 GFTIs are being offered for filling.

Bringing good news for aspiring students: the official data reveals a significant increase in the number of seats in 23 IITs this year, opening up more opportunities for admission. The counselling will be done for 17740 seats, 355 more than last year. The seat increases are distributed as follows:

  • 20 seats in IIT Bhubaneswar
  • 12 in IIT Bombay
  • 30 in IIT Kharagpur
  • 50 in IIT Jodhpur
  • 30 in IIT Gandhinagar
  • 84 in IIT Patna
  • 10 in IIT Guwahati
  • 40 in IIT Bhilai
  • 10 in IIT Tirupati
  • 75 in IIT Dharwad

  • 40 seats in the Industrial Engineering and Operations Research program at IIT Mumbai.
  • 50 seats in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at IIT Madras
  • 30 seats in Artificial Intelligence at IIT Kharagpur
  • 30 seats in Integrated Circuit Design and Technology at IIT Gandhinagar
  • 20 seats in Engineering Physics at IIT Bhubaneswar
  • 10 seats in Engineering Physics at IIT Tirupati
  • 40 seats in Engineering Physics at IIT Bhilai
  • 45 seats in Engineering Physics at IIT Dhanbad.

IIT Patna has increased the number of seats in various courses. The increases are as follows:

  • 24 seats in Economics, B.Tech in Chemical Science and Technology, and MBA (Hospital and Health Care Management).
  • 5 seats in Bachelor of Technology and MBA
  • 5 seats in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mathematics and Computing, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, and Chemical Engineering.
  • 6 seats in B.Tech Civil Engineering, Engineering Physics, Metallurgical and Material Engineering, and Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
  • 15 seats in Mechanical Engineering.

Most of these courses are associated with an MBA.
