The MHRD (Ministry of Human Resource Development) launched the Direct Admission to Students Abroad (DASA) scheme in 2001 to cater to the interest of NRIs worldwide in NITs in India.
To qualify for the DASA scheme:
During admission, candidates must produce originals and photocopies of various documents, including allotment letters, pass certificates, scorecards, passports, etc.
5% of supernumerary seats are reserved for the CIWG category, i.e., 1/3 seats from the DASA quota.

Below, we are sharing the eligibility criteria:
– Age limit: Only applicants born on or after October 01, 1999 are eligible.
– Academic Eligibility: The applicant must have secured a minimum of 60% aggregate marks or equivalent in the qualifying examination.
– Residential Requirement: All foreign nationals studying in any country, including India, PlOs, OCls, and NRls, who fulfil prescribed admission criteria are eligible.
Prescribed admission criteria for Indian Nationals shall be at least two years of education, inclusive of 11th & 12th or equivalent (not beyond), in a foreign country during the last 8 years and must pass the qualifying examination from abroad.

Your daughter must fulfil the eligibility criteria to be eligible for the NRI category to appear in pre-engineering and medical exams in India. She must have completed at least two years of education in a foreign country, including 11th and 12th grades, within the last eight years.

No, your daughter is not eligible for the DASA CIWG quota. As per the DASA/ CIWG eligibility criteria, your daughter must have completed her 11th & 12th from outside India.

Unfortunately, your son is not eligible for the NRI-sponsored seat. To eligible for NRI-sponsored seats in any engineering college, your son must have completed at least two years of education in a foreign country, including his 11th and 12th grades, within the last eight years.
For BITSAT- there is no NRI quota- a student who has studied out of INDIA must compete in the general quota

Yes, there is no NRI Quota for BITSAT. Candidates who have citizenship other than India can apply under the BITS International Students Admissions Scheme. Many engineering colleges conduct entrance exams, which you can apply for and get admitted to under the general quota.

My son stays with me in Saudi Arabia, and he completed is 11th from International Indian School Jeddah. For Class 12 th exam he went to india as it was Open Schooling (NIOS) just to give the exams. He is still under NRI category according to Indian Tax law. Just because his 12 th exam is not in abroad. Please clarify.

Your son has passed his 12th exams from NIOS, so he is eligible for the JEE Exam and can proceed with JoSAA counselling. However, he still needs to fulfil the other eligibility criteria.
However, when we talk about the DASA scheme, he is not eligible to apply to Indian engineering colleges under this scheme.

Completing 10+2 from outside India is mandatory to be eligible for the NRI quota. If your daughter joins 11th grade in India, she will not apply under the NRI Quota.

My son did the schooling till 9th grade in India, He did year 10,11 in Australia, he is currently studying 11th . We might be come back to India after his 12th grade. Is WAASE certificate provided by Australis is enough to get the admission in Engineering College. He is doing maths, Chemistry and physics subjects.
