DASA 2026 Application Process

The Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) scheme allows NRI, OCI, PIO, Foreign National and CIWG students to secure admission to premier Indian institutes such as NITs, IIITs, and other Government-funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) based on their JEE Main 2026 rank.

For the academic year 2026-27, DASA counselling will be conducted through the unified DASA & CSAB Special Rounds portal.

Students must complete registration, fee payment, document verification, choice filling, seat allotment, and institute reporting within the prescribed timelines.

Step 1: Login and Complete Registration

Required login details:

  • JEE Main 2026 Application Number
  • JEE Main Password

During registration, candidates must verify and confirm:

Personal Information:

  • Candidate Name
  • Father’s/Mother’s/Guardian’s Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Gender
  • Mobile Number
  • Email Address

Nationality Details:

Candidates must declare their nationality category.

Eligible categories include:

  • Foreign National
  • NRI
  • OCI/PIO (issued before 4 March 2021)
  • OCI/PIO (issued after 4 March 2021)

Note: NRI candidates whose parent(s) are working or have worked in a Gulf country till any date in 2026 may additionally declare their CIWG status.

Candidates are advised to enter all information carefully as incorrect information may lead to cancellation of candidature.

Step 2: Declare Class 12 Status

Students must declare their Class 12 (or equivalent) examination status during registration.

Candidates can choose one of the following:

Option A – Appeared for the final examination, and results are awaited.

Option B – Results declared and applied for re-evaluation or re-totalling.

Option C – Final results declared and not applied for re-evaluation.

Candidates whose qualifying examination results are awaited must upload the final documents within the timelines specified on the official portal.

Step 3: Fee Payment

Candidates must pay the DASA enrollment fee online before the deadline to avoid delays.

Note: It is the candidate’s responsibility to ensure that the payment of DEF is successfully completed and reflected in the seat allocation portal within the stipulated time.

Step 4: Upload Required Documents

Candidates must upload all required documents for online verification.

Academic Documents:

  • Class 10 Certificate
  • Class 11 Marksheet (where applicable)
  • Class 12 Marksheet or Passing Certificate
  • JEE Main 2026 Scorecard
  • Medical Certificate from an authorised medical practitioner

Identity Documents:

  • Passport
  • Nationality Certificate (if applicable)

Category Documents:

For OCI/PIO Candidates

  • Valid OCI/PIO Card

For NRI Candidates

  • Proof of NRI status
  • Study Certificate: proof of completing Class XI and XII outside India

For CIWG Candidates

  • Copy of parent’s passport (working in a Gulf country)
  • Parent’s valid Visa with validity on any date in 2026
  • Parent’s valid Work Permit with validity on any date in 2026
  • Employer certificate of the parent
  • Study Certificate: proof of completing Class XI and XII in a Gulf country

Students should ensure that all uploaded documents are:

  • Clear
  • Valid
  • Legible
  • Updated

Note – Submission of forged documents will result in immediate cancellation of candidature.

Step 5: Online Document Verification

After uploading documents, candidates undergo online document verification. Verification officers may raise queries if additional information or corrected documents are required.

Students must:

  • Regularly check the portal
  • Respond before the deadline
  • Upload revised documents if requested

Failure to respond may result in cancellation of candidature.

Only verified candidates can proceed to choice filling.

Step 6: Choice Filling and Locking

Once verification is complete, candidates become eligible for choice filling. Students can choose from various participating institutes and programmes.

Candidates should:

  • Fill as many choices as possible
  • Arrange choices in order of preference
  • Save choices frequently
  • Lock choices before the deadline

If candidates do not manually lock choices, the system will automatically lock the last saved choices.

DASA 2026 – Application Summary Checklist

Before submitting your application, ensure that you have completed the following steps:

  • Attempted JEE Main 2026 and obtained a valid Common Rank List (CRL)
  • Completed DASA 2026 online registration through the official portal
  • Verified all personal, academic and nationality details
  • Declared OCI/PIO status (if applicable) and CIWG tag (if applicable for NRI candidates)
  • Uploaded all required supporting documents in the prescribed format
  • Uploaded CIWG documents (if applicable)

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) – DASA 2026 Application

1. Is JEE Main 2026 mandatory for DASA admissions?

Yes. A valid JEE Main 2026 Common Rank List (CRL) is mandatory for admission through DASA 2026. Students without a JEE Main rank will not be eligible to participate in the admission process.

2. Do I need to create a separate account for DASA 2026?

No. Candidates must log in to the DASA & CSAB Special Rounds portal using their JEE Main 2026 Application Number and Password.

3. Can I apply for DASA if my Class 12 results are still awaited?

Yes. Students whose Class 12 results are awaited can register and participate in the process, provided they fulfil all eligibility requirements and submit the necessary documents within the prescribed timelines.

4. Is document verification mandatory before choice filling?

Yes. Candidates can fill in their institute and programme choices only after their documents have been successfully verified.

5. What happens if the document verification officer raises a query?

Candidates must log in to the portal regularly and respond to the query before the deadline by uploading the required documents or corrected information. Failure to respond may result in cancellation of candidature.

6. How many institutes and program choices can I fill?

Candidates are advised to fill ALL academic programs they are willing to join, in order of preference. The more choices filled, the better the chances of getting a preferred seat. Choices must be saved and locked before the deadline.

7. What happens if I forget to lock my choices?

If candidates do not manually lock their choices, the system will automatically lock the last saved choices after the deadline. However, students are strongly advised to review and lock their preferences themselves.

8. Can I edit my application details after submission?

Candidates cannot change their name, parents’ name, date of birth, or examination board after registration. They can update nationality, gender, and Class XII passing status during the registration window, subject to conditions specified in the official brochure.

9. What should I do after completing the application process?

After completing registration, document verification, and choice filling, candidates should wait for the seat allocation process.
