Every year lakhs of students appear for the exam, competing for 1,07,658 MBBS seats, 27,868 BDS seats, 50,720 AYUSH seats, and 5087 B.VSc & AH seats offered by the country’s reputed medical institutions.

NEET-UG 2023 was conducted in 4097 different Centres located in 499 Cities throughout the country, including 14 Cities outside India on 07 May 2023 (Sunday).

As per the data released by authorities, 20,87,462 candidates registered for NEET-UG 2023, of which 20,38,596 candidates appeared. And only 11,45,976 candidates successfully qualified for the exam.

This year NEET (UG) was also conducted outside India in Abu Dhabi, Bangkok, Colombo, Doha, Kathmandu, Kuala Lumpur, Lagos, Manama, Muscat, Riyadh, Sharjah, Singapore along with Dubai, and Kuwait City.

What are the Minimum Qualifying Marks Required in NEET 2023 for MBBS?

For national-level entrance examinations like NEET-UG, candidates must clear the cut-off, the minimum marks required to qualify for NEET-UG2023.

The NEET-UG cut-off is divided into two categories:

• NEET 2023 Qualifying cut-off
• NEET 2023 Admission cut-off

The Qualifying Cut-off is the minimum marks a candidate must score to pass the exam, whereas the Admission Cut-off is the last rank at which a candidate will be admitted.

Here we’ll be addressing the NEET-UG 2023 MBBS cut-off. The NTA will decide NEET-UG 2023 cut-off based on several factors, including the exam’s difficulty level, the number of candidates, their performance, the number of seats available, etc.

Simply put, candidates who score above the cut-off marks are eligible for MBBS admission, while candidates who score less than the cut-off marks are not eligible for MBBS admission. Different categories, including General, SC, ST, OBC, and PwD, have different cut-off scores. It is significant to note that the rank, established based on the candidates’ marks and used to establish merit order for admission, differs from cut-off marks.

1. Make a realistic study timetable and follow it diligently. Set daily study goals and ensure that you achieve them before retiring to bed.
2. Study all three subjects daily to avoid boredom, and take regular breaks between study sessions to refresh your mind.
3. Familiarise yourself with the exam syllabus. Prioritise the high-weightage topics and focus more on your weak sections.
4. Revise regularly. Revise what you’ve learned daily and revise your entire syllabus at least twice before the exam.
5. Practice as many questions as you can before the exam.
6. Take mock tests or solve sample papers in real-exam-like conditions to increase your speed and accuracy.
7. Practice previous years’ question papers to understand the exam pattern and questions’ difficulty level.

NEET (UG) 2023 Important Updates: 

Regarding 15% All India Quota Seats:

The Counselling for 15% All India Quota Seats, Deemed Universities, Central Universities, Seats of ESIC and AFMC, BHU, and AMU will be conducted by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Government of India. For further information, candidates can visit the website www.mcc.nic.in. The application process for 15% All India Quota seats should be followed as per the directions provided by DGHS. Once the seats are filled, the counselling process will be concluded. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Medical Education Directorates of States will provide the counselling details and schedule on their respective websites.

Information on State Quota Seats:

For seats falling under the State quota and other categories governed by the States, candidates should apply to their respective domicile States. The concerned Counselling Authorities will prepare a merit list based on All India Rank and State rules. The counselling process for Private Medical Colleges will also be conducted by the relevant State Counselling Authority. Candidates are advised to stay in contact with the respective Counselling Authorities and Institutions for further details.

Inter-se-Merit of Candidates for Tie-Breaking:

In the event that two or more candidates obtain equal marks/percentile scores in the NEET (UG) – 2023, the following tie-breaking rules will be applied:

• Candidate with higher marks/percentile score in Biology (Botany & Zoology) in the test.
• Candidate with higher marks/percentile scores in Chemistry in the test.
• Candidate with higher marks/percentile scores in Physics on the test.
• Candidate with a lesser proportion of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in all subjects in the test.
• Candidate with a lesser proportion of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Biology (Botany & Zoology) in the test.
• Candidate with a lesser proportion of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Chemistry in the test.
• Candidate with a lesser proportion of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Physics in the test.

Conclusion:

The results of NEET-UG 2023 have been declared based on the qualifying criteria prescribed by the National Medical Commission and Dental Council of India, as well as the information submitted by the candidates in their online application forms.

Qualified candidates must complete further formalities with the respective Counselling Authorities, such as DGHS and Medical Education Directorates of States, for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses.
