• Candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1999.
• A candidate should have appeared for the Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in either 2023 or 2024 with the subjects Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
• The Candidates must satisfy at least one of the following two criteria with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects in the year of first appearance in the Class XII (or equivalent examination):
• Must have passed class XII (or equivalent) Board examination with a minimum of five subjects and secured at least 75% aggregate marks.
• Must have passed the Class XII (or equivalent) Board examination with a minimum of five subjects and be within the top 20 percentile of successful candidates in their respective Class XII (or equivalent) board examination.

Note: NRIs aiming for IITs must take the JEE Examination; no special quotas or alternatives are available.

Documents Required:

• Parents’ resident certificates issued by the embassy of the residing and IT-compliant country are proof of the parents’ residency.
• Passport/ Visa/ Resident Visa for identity proof of the candidate.
• Employment Letter of either parent for employment proof.
• Citizenship of the candidate for residential proof.
• Income tax documents as per the IT Act 1961 are used for income proof.
• Class X & XII marksheets.

The MHRD (Ministry of Human Resource Development) launched the Direct Admission to Students Abroad (DASA) scheme in 2001 to cater to the interest of NRIs worldwide in NITs in India.

Eligibility for DASA/CIWG Scheme:

To qualify for the DASA scheme:

• Students must complete at least two years of education, including their 11th and 12th grades, in a foreign country within the last eight years.
• A minimum score of 60% is required in the 12th grade.

Who falls under the NRI Quota?  

A candidate is eligible for the NRI quota in NEET if they meet the following criteria:

• The aspirant must be of Indian origin and settled in a foreign country.
• Children of Indian citizens living abroad for business or employment are considered NRIs.
• Candidates born abroad but whose parents are of Indian descent fall under the NRI category.
• Candidates who are children of State/Central Government employees staying abroad during the deputation period are considered NRIs.
• Candidates should be residing abroad and must have the status of an NRI (by living outside the country for 5 years) or an OCI/PIO cardholder.
• Candidates residing in a foreign country must have completed their 10th and 12th standard exams from the same country to be eligible for the NRI quota in NEET.

It is essential to meet the eligibility criteria of any exam before applying for it. • The first step to getting admission into medical college is to appear for the NEET exam. Qualifying in NEET-UG is essential for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, BVSc, AH, BSc Nursing, and Life Science courses.
• To meet the eligibility criteria for NRI quota requirements, you need to attain the minimum cut-off marks and successfully clear the NEET exam. Once you receive the entrance exam results, you must research and identify government medical colleges offering NRI quota seats. You can then register for the counselling process through the MCI website. The seats are allocated based on your NEET score.
• Colleges usually release a separate application form for NRI quota admissions. You need to fill out the form accurately and provide all the necessary documents, including proof of NRI status, academic records, entrance exam scores, and language proficiency scores.
• After the counselling process, seats will be allocated based on the merit and availability of seats in the medical colleges.
