The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is a pivotal national-level engineering entrance examination. It is the gateway for students aspiring to secure admission to India’s most prestigious and sought-after engineering colleges and universities. The examination is divided into two segments: JEE (Main) and JEE (Advanced).

• Since 2019, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has conducted the exam.
• The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) plays a significant role in the admission process. It not only regulates and manages the admission process but also oversees the seat allocation for the participating 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 26 IIITs, and 33 other Central Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) based on the ranks obtained by the student in JEE (Main) and JEE (Advanced).
• Students who enroll in an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) are not eligible to retake the JEE-Advanced test. However, this is not in the case for NIT, IISc, IISERs, RGIPT, IIPE, and IIST.

The JoSAA conducts post-exam counselling, but numerous institutes do not participate. Instead, they use the JEE (Advanced) score as the basis of admission. The Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs), the Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE), the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT), the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), and the Indian Institute of Science (IISC) are some of these institutions.

JEE Main 2025:

JEE Main is a computer-based engineering entrance test that is among the most popular for admission to NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. However, many famous private colleges also accept JEE Main scores as a foundation for admission to Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) and Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) programs.

Taking the JEE Main is the first step toward becoming an engineer. JEE Main 2025 will be held in two sessions, session 1 in January 2025 and session 2 in April 2025, at various examination centers in India and outside India.

The JEE Main Exam is divided into two Papers: Paper 1 (B.E./ B.Tech) and Paper 2 (Paper 2A & Paper 2B).

• Paper 1: It is for Undergraduate Engineering Programmes (B.E./ B.Tech.) in NITs, IIITs, and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), as well as institutions/universities funded/recognized by participating State Governments. Additionally, JEE Main is the pre-requisite for JEE Advanced, which the National Testing Agency administers for admission into India’s most prestigious engineering institutions, the IITs.
• Paper 2: Paper 2A and Paper 2B are conducted to admit students to Undergraduate Programs for Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch.) and Bachelor of Planning (B. Plan.) courses in the country.
• • The results will be calculated as a percentile (NTA Scores). The percentage will be calculated based on the candidate’s overall marks in the Paper across all subjects.

• • The rankings will be announced after the results of Session 1 and Session 2 are declared. The rank will be determined by comparing the candidates’ attempts in both sessions.

• • NTA will declare results on its official website only. The national authority never declares results offline.

• • The rank is a composite of the All-India Rank and All-India Category Rank. The authorities will not give applicants a rank card. Candidates can download it only on the website.

• • The candidate’s score and rank can be used in JoSSA’s counselling sessions to determine the candidate’s eligibility for JEE (Advanced).

JEE Main 2025 Eligibility:

It’s important to note that candidates must meet the eligibility requirements established by India’s National Testing Agency (NTA) to take JEE Main 2025. Candidates must fulfill the JEE Main eligibility criteria before filling out the registration form. The eligibility criteria consist of age limit, academic details, subjects in classes 12 & 10 with the percentage, and more. The candidates appearing in class 12 with results awaiting are eligible to fill out the JEE Main application form.

The NTA determines the eligibility criteria for JEE Main 2025, which can be divided into two categories.

• Eligibility requirements for the JEE Main 2025 examination.
• Eligibility requirements for college admission include IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs.

JEE Main 2025 Application Form:  

The JEE Main 2025 examination will be held in two sessions: January and April 2025. The NTA authorities will update the JEE Main Application Form Link on the official website. Students can apply for both sessions during the registration process for session 1. To appear in the JEE exam, candidates must complete the registration process, including filling out forms, document submission, paying the JEE Main application fees, and others.

Document students will need to fill out their JEE Main Application Form 

• Valid ID proof (Aadhar Card, Bank Passbook, Ration Card copy, Passport, etc)
• Classes 10 and 12 Marksheets
• Cast Certificate (if applicable)
• Recent passport-size photograph
• Recent scanned passport-size photo
• Scanned signature
• Debit/Credit card, net banking details for application fee payment.

JEE Main 2025 Admit Card:  

The NTA releases the admit card for the JEE Main on its official website. To download the admit card, candidates must provide the JEE login details (application number and date of birth). For aspirants, the admit card is a crucial piece of paper. They must carry their JEE Main admit card and a picture ID to the exam center to take the exam. Students are advised to read the instructions mentioned on the admit card carefully.

JEE Main Opportunities for NRI/PIO/GCC Resident Candidates:

The DASA/CIWG Scheme, started by the Ministry of Human Resources and Development, allows aspiring engineering NRI students to be admitted to the top engineering institutes in India. This scheme is often referred to as the ‘NRI Quota’ among NRIs in the Middle East and elsewhere.

There are three alternatives for NRI students under the DASA Scheme: Engineering Admission in India.

• Priority 1 – Admission to IITs in India
• Priority 2 – Admission to CFTIs in India (NITs, IIITs & Other Institutions)
• Priority 3 – Admission to State Engineering Colleges

JEE Main Exam Centers Outside India:

The organising authority for JEE Main 2025, NTA, has relieved engineering aspirants outside India. The online computer-based examination will now occur in several nations, including the GCC. NTA has allotted exam centers in 22 cities outside India to serve the growing number of international engineering aspirants. This allows NRIs and other foreign citizens to apply for admission to India’s best technical schools.

Candidates can now select their chosen exam center when filling out the application. They should be informed that after the JEE Main 2025 Advance City Intimation Slip is issued, they will not be allowed to change their centers.

JEE Main Exam Pattern:

As we all know, the JEE Main comprises two papers: Paper 1 for Bachelor of Engineering/Bachelor of Technology (B.E./ B.Tech) and Paper 2 for Bachelor of Architecture/Bachelor of Planning. The test patterns for both exams are different. Candidates should know that the JEE Main 2025 will be held online, except for the B.Arch drawing test, which will be done offline.

The National Testing Agency will announce the JEE Main Result 2025 on its official website. Students can check their results by logging in to their JEE Main portal. They can also download their scorecard to check the marks obtained, category-wise rank, and more.
