DASA 2026 Counselling – Key Milestones Explained

1. Registration & Application Phase

  • Information Brochure Release: Contains complete rules, eligibility, fee structure, seat matrix, and counselling schedule. Candidates must read it thoroughly before applying.
  • Online Registration: Candidates create an account using their JEE Main 2026 application number and date of birth.
  • Application Form Filling: Personal, academic, and category details are entered. Documents are uploaded.
  • Fee Payment: Registration fee + first semester tuition fee (as per category) is paid online. The registration fee (USD 300) is non-refundable.

2. Choice Filling & Locking Phase

  • Choice Filling: Candidates select their preferred institute-branch combinations from the DASA 2026 seat matrix.
  • Choice Locking: Candidates must explicitly lock their choices before the deadline. Unlocked choices are not considered for seat allotment.
  • Mock Allotment: A trial round to help candidates understand their chances and revise choices if needed. Mock allotment does not affect final seat allocation.

3. Seat Allotment Rounds

  • Round 1, 2, and 3: Seat allotment is conducted based on merit (JEE Main rank), category, and choices filled.
  • Candidate Actions: After each round, candidates must log in to the portal and choose one of three options: Accept, Accept & Upgrade, or Decline.
  • Deadlines: Strict deadlines apply for each action. Failure to respond within the deadline is treated as ‘Declined’.

4. Post-Allotment Processes

  • Internal Sliding: Conducted within institutes after Round 3. Vacant seats are offered to already admitted candidates based on merit and original preferences. No fresh choice filling.
  • Special Round: Conducted only if seats remain vacant after internal sliding. Only for candidates who have paid the fee, are eligible, and have not been allotted any seat in earlier rounds. Fresh choice filling is mandatory.
  • Reporting to Institute: Candidates who accept seats must report to the allotted institute in person with all original documents within the specified dates.
  • Provisional Candidates Deadline: Candidates who appeared for Class XII in 2026 and were provisionally admitted must submit their final passing certificates and mark sheets by September 30, 2026. Failure to do so results in cancellation of admission and forfeiture of fee.

DASA 2026 Counselling – Important Rules

  • No Spot Admissions: All admissions under DASA 2026 are conducted only through the online centralized counselling process. No spot or walk-in admissions are permitted.
  • No Individual Communication: DASA does not send individual emails, letters, or phone calls regarding allotment results. Candidates must self-check their status on the portal.
  • Deadlines are Absolute: Deadlines published in the schedule are strictly enforced. The DASA portal automatically disables actions after the cutoff time. No extensions are granted.
  • Fee Forfeiture: Candidates who accept a seat but fail to report to the institute, or who withdraw after reporting, forfeit the full tuition fee. No refund is applicable.
  • Special Round Ineligibility: Candidates who have declined any seat allotment in Rounds 1, 2, or 3 are not eligible for the Special Round.
