DASA 2026 Counselling – Key Milestones Explained
1. Registration & Application Phase
- Information Brochure: Contains complete rules, eligibility, fee structure, seat matrix, and counselling schedule. Available on csab.nic.in. Candidates must read it thoroughly before applying.
- Online Registration: Candidates log in using their JEE Main 2026 Application Number and Password. No separate account creation is needed.
- Application Form Filling: Personal, academic, and category details are entered. Documents are uploaded.
- Fee Payment: Registration fee + first semester tuition fee (as per category) is paid online. The registration fee (USD 300) is non-refundable.
2. Choice Filling & Locking Phase
- Choice Filling: Candidates select their preferred institute-branch combinations from the DASA 2026 seat matrix.
- Choice Locking: Candidates must lock their choices before the deadline. If not locked manually, the system will automatically lock the last saved choices at the deadline. Candidates are strongly advised to explicitly lock their choices themselves.
- Mock Allotment: A trial round to help candidates understand their chances and revise choices if needed. Mock allotment does not affect final seat allocation.
3. Seat Allotment Rounds
- Round 1 and 2: Seat allotment is conducted based on merit (JEE Main 2026 Common Rank List), category, and choices filled.
- Candidate Actions: After each round, candidates must log in to the portal and exercise one of five willingness options: Freeze, Float, Slide, Surrender, or Withdraw.
- Deadlines: Strict deadlines apply for each action. Failure to respond within the deadline results in the willingness being automatically set to Float. Exception: if the candidate was allotted their first choice, the default willingness is automatically set to Freeze.
4. Post-Allotment Processes
- Reporting to Institute: Candidates who have been allotted a seat must report to the allotted institute in person with all original documents within the specified dates (13–18 August 2026, tentative).
- Provisional Candidates Deadline: Candidates who appeared for Class XII in 2026 and were provisionally admitted must submit their final passing certificates and mark sheets by 30 September 2026. Failure to do so results in cancellation of admission and forfeiture of the fee.
DASA 2026 Counselling – Important Rules
- No Spot Admissions: All admissions under DASA 2026 are conducted only through the online centralized counselling process. No spot or walk-in admissions are permitted.
- No Individual Communication: DASA does not send individual emails, letters, or phone calls regarding allotment results. Candidates must self-check their status on the portal.
- Deadlines are Absolute: Deadlines published in the schedule are strictly enforced. The DASA portal automatically disables actions after the cutoff time. No extensions are granted.
- Fee Forfeiture: Candidates who do not physically report to the allotted institute forfeit the full tuition fee. Candidates who exercise the Withdraw option receive a 50% tuition fee refund as per DASA refund rules.
