NEET-UG 2026 – Important Instructions

  • Only One Application: Each candidate must submit only one application form. Multiple submissions will lead to immediate rejection.
  • Language Selection is Final: The exam medium/language (13 languages available) must be chosen carefully during the application process. No changes will be permitted after submission.
  • No Late Registrations: Applications will not be accepted after the deadline under any circumstances. Candidates are advised to submit well before the closing date.
  • Keep Documents Ready: Before starting the application, ensure all required documents and information are readily available to avoid mid-way delays.
  • Official Website Only: The NEET 2026 application form is available only on the official website: https://neet.nta.nic.in/. Candidates must not use any third-party websites.

NEET-UG 2026 – Step-by-Step Application Process

Step 1: Registration

  1. Visit the official NEET website: https://neet.nta.nic.in/
  2. Click on the ‘New Registration’ link.
  3. Read all instructions carefully and click on ‘Apply Online’.
  4. Enter personal details: Name (as per Class X certificate), Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, Date of Birth, Gender, Nationality, Category, etc.
  5. Provide a valid mobile number and email address (OTP verification will be sent).
  6. Click on ‘Submit’.
  7. Your NEET 2026 registration will be completed, and a system-generated Application Number and Password will be displayed and sent to your registered email/mobile.
  8. Save your login credentials securely. You will need them for all subsequent steps.

Step 2: Fill Online Application Form

  1. Click on the ‘Click here to log in’ option.
  2. Log in using your Application Number and Password (Date of Birth).
  3. Fill in the detailed application form with the following information:
    • Personal Details: Confirm name, DOB, gender, category, nationality, etc. (pre-filled from registration).
    • Place of Birth: Village/City, District, State, Country.
    • Academic Details: Class X, Class XI, and Class XII (or equivalent) – roll number, year of passing, board, school, marks obtained (if declared).
    • Parents’ Details: Name, occupation, annual income (for EWS/OBC-NCL candidates).
    • Address Details: Permanent address and correspondence address (with PIN code).
    • Exam Centre Preferences: Select 4 preferred cities in decreasing order of preference. NTA will allot centres based on availability and preference.
    • Exam Medium: Choose the language of the question paper from 13 available languages. This choice is final and cannot be changed later.
  4. Review all entered details carefully. Most fields cannot be edited after submission.
  5. Click on ‘Yes, please do’ on the confirmation page to submit the application form.

Step 3: Upload Required Documents

  1. After submitting the application form, click on the ‘Upload Recent Documents’ link.
  2. Upload scanned copies of:
    • Passport size photograph
    • Postcard size photograph
    • Signature
    • Left and right-hand finger and thumb impressions
    • Class X passing certificate (PDF)
    • Category certificate (if applicable) – PDF
    • PwBD certificate (if applicable) – PDF

Step 4: Payment of Application Fees

  1. After successful document upload, proceed to the fee payment page.
  2. Select your preferred payment method:
    • Debit Card
    • Credit Card
    • Net Banking
    • UPI
    • E-wallet
  3. Pay the applicable application fee as per your category (see table below).
  4. Note: The application fee does not include processing charges, service charges, or GST. These additional charges, if applicable, must be borne by the candidate.
  5. After successful payment, the payment status will be updated to ‘PAID’.

Step 5: Submit and Download Confirmation Page

  1. After successful fee payment, read the declaration carefully and click on the ‘Submit’ button.
  2. The application status will change to ‘Confirmed’, indicating that your NEET 2026 application has been successfully submitted and accepted by NTA.
  3. Download the NEET 2026 Application Form and Confirmation Page.
  4. Take multiple printouts of the confirmation page on A4 size paper. This is a mandatory document for future counselling and admission.
  5. A confirmation email and SMS will also be sent to your registered email ID and mobile number.

NEET-UG 2026 – Application Correction Window

NTA provides a limited correction window for candidates to edit certain fields in their submitted application forms. This window is typically opened 2-3 days after the closure of the application process.

  1. Visit the official NEET website: neet.nta.nic.in.
  2. Log in using your Application Number and Password.
  3. Click on the ‘NEET 2026 Application Correction’ link.
  4. Your submitted application form will be displayed with editable fields highlighted.
  5. Make the necessary corrections.
  6. Click on ‘Preview’ and verify the corrected details.
  7. Enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
  8. Click on ‘Submit’.
  9. Download and save the Correction Receipt for future reference.

How to Correct Scanned Document Discrepancies

If your uploaded photograph, signature, or thumb impression does not meet NTA specifications, follow these steps during the correction window:

  1. Re-scan the document with the correct specifications (size, format, resolution).
  2. Log in to the NEET portal using your credentials.
  3. Click on the ‘Upload Scanned Documents’ option.
  4. Upload the corrected document.
  5. Verify the preview before final submission.
  6. Enter the OTP received on your registered mobile number.
  7. Click on ‘Submit’.
  8. Download the Form Correction Receipt.

NEET-UG 2026 – How to Reset/Retrieve Login Password

If you forget your NEET 2026 login password, you can reset it using one of the following two methods:

Method 1: Through Security Question

  1. Visit the official NEET website.
  2. Click on ‘Reset Password for NEET 2026’.
  3. Enter your Name, Date of Birth, and NEET 2026 Application Number.
  4. Select ‘Through Security Question’.
  5. Answer the security question you selected during registration.
  6. Create a new password and confirm.
  7. Your password will be reset successfully.

Method 2: Through OTP

  1. Visit the official NEET website.
  2. Click on ‘Reset Password for NEET 2026’.
  3. Enter your Name, Date of Birth, and NEET 2026 Application Number.
  4. Select ‘Through OTP’.
  5. An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number and email ID.
  6. Enter the OTP on the screen.
  7. Create a new password and confirm.

NEET-UG 2026 – Special Instructions for NRI / OCI / PIO / Foreign Candidates

  • NRI Candidates: Must select the ‘NRI’ category and pay the applicable fee of INR 9,500. Valid proof of NRI status (parent’s employment certificate, visa, work permit, etc.) must be uploaded.
  • OCI / PIO Candidates: Must upload a scanned copy of the valid OCI/PIO card (both sides) in PDF format (50-300 KB).
  • Foreign Nationals: Must select the ‘Foreign National’ category and upload a valid passport and Citizenship Certificate/Embassy Certificate.
  • Exam Centres Abroad: NEET 2026 is conducted at multiple international centres including Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Kuwait City, Doha, Muscat, Manama, Kathmandu, Colombo, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and others. Candidates appearing from these centres must pay the Foreign National fee.
  • Name Consistency: The candidate’s name must match exactly across all documents – Passport, Class X certificate, Class XII certificate, and NEET application form. Any discrepancy may lead to disqualification.
