JEE Main 2026 Session 1: Advance Intimation for Allotment of Examination City Released

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released an important Public Notice dated 08 January 2026 regarding the Advance Intimation for Allotment of Examination City for candidates appearing in Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026 – Session 1.

This advance intimation has been provided to help candidates plan their travel and logistics well in advance of the examination. Candidates should clearly understand that this is not the Admit Card, but only an early update about the exam city.

What Is Advance Examination City Intimation?

Advance Examination City Intimation is a preliminary information slip that tells candidates in which city their JEE Main 2026 Session 1 exam centre will be located.

At this stage:

  • Only the exam city is announced
  • Exact centre address, exam date, shift, and reporting time are NOT included
  • Entry to the examination hall is not permitted using this slip

The main purpose is to allow candidates to prepare travel and accommodation plans in advance, especially for those appearing from outside their home city or country.

JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Examination Schedule:

As per the official notification, JEE Main 2026 Session 1 will be conducted at centres across India and 15 cities outside India.

Exam Dates:

  • 21, 22, 23, 24, and 28 January 2026
  • 29 January 2026

Paper and Shift Details:

Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech):
  • First Shift: 09:00 AM to 12:00 Noon
  • Second Shift: 03:00 PM to 06:00 PM
Paper 2A (B.Arch), Paper 2B (B.Planning), and Paper 2A & 2B (Both):
  • First Shift: 09:00 AM to 12:30 PM

Candidates can access and download the slip from 08 January 2026 onwards using their login credentials.

How to Download JEE Main 2026 Examination City Intimation Slip:

Candidates can follow these steps:

  1. Visit https://jeemain.nta.nic.in/
  2. Click on the link for JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Examination City Intimation
  3. Log in using Application Number and Password / Date of Birth
  4. Download and save the city intimation slip
  5. Carefully read all instructions mentioned on the slip

Candidates are advised to keep a copy for reference until the admit card is released.

Please Note: This Is NOT the Admit Card

NTA has clearly stated that:

  • The Examination City Intimation Slip is NOT the Admit Card
  • It cannot be used for entry into the examination hall
  • The JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Admit Card will be released later

The admit card will contain:

  • Exact exam centre address
  • Exam date and shift
  • Reporting time
  • Candidate details and exam-day instructions

Candidates should wait for the official admit card notification.
