⚡ Quick Answer
To prepare well for the TALLENTEX Overseas Exam, do four things. First, check your computer, install the ALLEN Overseas Netra software, and finish both mock tests early. Second, manage your time: go through the whole paper, then use the remaining time on the harder achiever questions, at roughly a minute per question. Third, focus on revising chapters from your previous grade and on your weakest subject. Finally, avoid common mistakes, such as guessing blindly once negative marking applies or skipping the mock tests.
ALLEN Overseas Netra is the official exam software for the TALLENTEX Overseas mock tests and the main exam. To avoid last-minute trouble, install it early and finish both mock tests. That way, you can find and fix any problem with your computer or room well before exam day. Students should also read this guide with their parents before the first mock test.

Installing on Mac:
Allow these permissions when asked: Camera, Microphone, Screen Recording, and Local Network. The software needs them to run the exam. If you deny one, the exam may not work.
Practise before the real exam: Complete both mock tests in this app before the main exam. If anything does not work during a mock, contact support so the team can fix it in time.
Do this before every mock test and before the main exam. Parents can help check this list.

Don’ts:
Allowed on the desk, and nothing else: laptop and charger, pen or pencil, blank rough paper, and a water bottle.
These rules match what ALLEN Overseas Netra monitors. The same rules apply in both mock tests and the main exam. Follow them so you are not locked out.
Stay in the exam by doing this:
These actions lock the exam or trigger a warning:
About warnings: A warning is a signal for a person to review later. It is not an automatic cheating decision. Following the steps in this guide helps you avoid false warnings.
| Situation | What to do |
| The network drops | Stay in the app. Your answers are saved and will sync when the connection returns. |
| The exam locks | Sign in again on the same computer. Your progress is usually saved. |
| After you submit | Wait until the data upload finishes before you close the app. |
| Still stuck | Contact support with your form number, your operating system (Windows or Mac), and a screenshot of the error. |
Who Should You Contact for Help?
When you contact support, share your form number, your operating system (Windows or Mac), and a screenshot of the error. This helps the team solve the problem faster.
Time is the key in any exam. In Grades V to X, you get 2 hours for 120 questions, so you have about one minute for each. In Grade XI, the same 2 hours cover 158 questions, so every minute counts even more. Therefore, do not get stuck on a hard question. Move on, and come back to it later if time allows. Here is how you can manage your time:
Go through the whole paper once and answer anything that feels easy or familiar. If a question makes you pause for more than a few seconds, skip it and come back later. This way, you bank your easy marks early, before the clock starts working against you.
Achiever questions are worth more marks, but they also take longer. A wrong answer costs you more as well. So, once your easy first pass is done, use the time you have left to work through these questions carefully. Do not rush into them early and risk running out of time for the rest of the paper.
Before you start the exam, decide roughly how many minutes you will give each subject. Even a rough plan helps. It stops you from spending twenty minutes on one tricky physics question while an easy math section sits untouched.
Glance at the clock every 30 questions or so, instead of every couple of minutes. Checking too often breaks your focus and adds stress. A few planned checkpoints are enough to tell you whether you are on track.
Save the last 5 to 10 minutes to look back over the answers you were unsure about, instead of starting new questions. A quick second look often catches small, careless slips, such as a misread option or a question you skipped by accident.
These are some of the common mistakes to avoid during the TALLENTEX Overseas 2027 exam to perform well:
From Grade VIII up, a wrong Achiever answer costs you 2 marks, which is twice what a wrong General answer costs. A right Achiever answer earns 6 marks. So, attempt an Achiever question only when you have worked it out, or when you can clearly rule out some options. Do not attempt it just because you are hoping for the best.
It is tempting to keep pushing on a question you have already spent three minutes on. However, that time almost always comes out of questions you could have answered easily. Skip it, move on, and come back only if you have time left at the end.
Registered students get free access to practice papers and mock tests on the student portal. Skipping them is one of the most common mistakes and also one of the easiest to fix. These papers are the closest thing to a dry run of the real exam, with the same pattern and timing. In addition, the mock tests let you try the exam software before exam day.
Treating every chapter as equally important feels fair, but it is not the smartest use of your limited time. Instead, give more time to the topics you are weaker in, or the ones that carry more marks. This works better than spreading yourself across everything.
Attempting a practice paper and moving straight on without checking your answers wastes half its value. Go back over what you got wrong, and find out why. That review is where the real learning happens, not the attempt itself.
Some students skip the IQ section because it is not part of their school syllabus. However, it carries real marks, 20 questions’ worth. It is also the section that improves fastest with a little regular practice.
A: Use a laptop or desktop only. A phone or tablet is not allowed. Your computer needs at least 16 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD storage, plus a working webcam and microphone.
A: No. Headphones, earbuds, Bluetooth headsets, books, notes, a second phone, and a tablet are not allowed. Keep only your laptop and charger, a pen or pencil, blank rough paper, and a water bottle on the desk.
A: Stay in the app. Your answers are saved and will sync when the connection returns.
A: Sign in again on the same computer. Your progress is usually saved. If you are still stuck, contact support with your form number, your operating system, and a screenshot of the error.
A: Roughly 1 minute, if you are in Grades V to X. Grade XI students have a little less time, since 158 questions share the same 2 hours. Treat this as a rough guide, not a strict rule. Easy questions should take you far less time anyway.
A: Only attempt the ones you are reasonably confident about. From Grade VIII onward, it is fine to skip a question if you are genuinely unsure. A wrong answer takes marks away, while a blank answer does not.
A: Two places give you the best return. The first is topics that repeat from your previous grade, since that is revision rather than new learning. The second is the subject you find weakest, since that is where your score improves fastest.
A: Getting stuck on one tough question and running out of time for questions they could have answered easily. The fix is simple: skip it, move on, and come back only if you have time left.
A: As a registered student, you get free mock tests and practice papers on the student portal. They follow the same pattern and syllabus as the real exam. You will also attempt two mock tests in ALLEN Overseas Netra before the main exam.
