Exciting news for all engineering aspirants in UAE! The IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi (Indian Institute of Technology Delhi Abu Dhabi) campus has released the admission guidelines for the first-ever undergraduate program, which will commence in the academic year 2024-25. This is a unique opportunity for UAE Nationals, residents, and International Students to study at IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi. Aspiring students can secure admission through the Combined Admission Entrance Test (CAET) 2024 or JEE Advanced Exam 2024.

The IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi will offer two bachelor’s degree programs: B.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering and B.Tech in Energy Engineering. Each program will admit 30 students, totalling 60 seats for the first batch. Classes are scheduled to begin in August or September.

About IIT Abu Dhabi CAET Exam:

The CAET is an entrance exam for students willing to be admitted to IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi. Introduced this year, the combined admission entrance test (CAET) aligns as a significant entrance examination, offering admission to UAE Nationals, UAE Residents, and International Students into different courses at IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi. The exam is pen-and-paper, and the responses are to be marked on an OMR sheet. The CAET exam will be conducted on 23 June 2024 (Sunday) in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, etc.

It is important to know the complete schedule of IIT Abu Dhabi CAET 2024 Exam. To help you, below we have mentioned all the dates of the exam:

CAET Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates must meet the CAET 2024 eligibility criteria established by the organising body to apply and appear for the entrance exam. The eligibility parameters are as follows:

1. Academic Eligibility:

Candidates must have secured at least 75% aggregate marks (or equivalent) in class XII (or equivalent) Board exam.

Or

Must be in the top 20 percentile in their respective class XII (or equivalent) board exam.

2. Age Limit:

Candidates should have been born on or after 01 October 1999.

Note: Two-year age relaxation may be applicable as per UAE national policy.

3. No of Attempts:

Maximum two attempts in two consecutive years.

4. Year of Passing:

Students should have appeared for the class XII (or equivalent) exam for the first time in either the current year or the year immediately preceding.

5. Earlier Admission in IIT:

A candidate should not have been previously admitted to any IIT, regardless of whether the candidate continued in the program or accepted and then vacated an IIT seat.

6. Score in EmSAT/SAT:

EmSAT Score in Mathematics: Minimum 1150/2000

SAT Score in Mathematics: Minimum 700/800

7. Language Proficiency:

Minimum proficiency in English as per the below requirement. The test must have been taken within the last two years from any certified provider.

Other than the above criteria, students should keep some more points in mind.

  • UAE Residents: Indian nationals who are wards of UAE residents living in UAE for at least the past five years and have completed their class X to XII standard of schooling in the UAE.
  • International Students: Other than UAE and Indian Nationals. Also, candidates who have secured OCI/PIO cards on or after 04.03.2021 shall be considered international students.
  • Board Exam Marks: The aggregate and cut-off marks will be calculated based on the scores in five subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, a language, and one additional subject.
  • Age Relaxation: UAE Nationals who served one year of compulsory military service supported by a valid certificate will be given one year of relaxation.

IIT Abu Dhabi CAET 2024 Application Process:

Step 1: Complete the registration process

  • Enter your details (name, contact no, email address, DOB, etc.)
  • Create a password.
  • Tick the confirmation tab.
  • Click on Register.

Your login credentials will be shared with you on your registered email ID.

Step 2: Enter your details

  • Complete your Personal Information.
  • Choose your Examination Center based on your preference.
  • Specify if you have completed National Service (applicable only for UAE Nationals).
  • Specify if you are a Person of Determination.

Step 3: Complete your Academic Information

  • If you are currently in Grade 12/Year 13, choose the Appearing Year as 2024.
  • If you are an Indian Expatriate living in UAE for 5 years or more, then provide the score for Grade 8 – 12.
  • Enter your EmSAT or SAT score in Mathematics if you have a valid score. If you do not have a score yet, select Yet to appear.
  • Select an English Proficiency Test from the dropdown. Select the one with the highest score if you have appeared for more than one examination. If you don’t have a valid score, select “Yet to appear”. You can submit the scorecard at the time of selection.

Step 4: Upload Documents

Step 5: Fee Submission

  • After submitting the document, you will be redirected to PayPal to pay the one-time Application Fee of USD 82 (~ 300 AED).

Ques: What are the admission requirements for undergraduate programs?

Answer: Admissions to IITD-AD are conditional on fulfilling all eligibility criteria and performing well in the Combined Entrance Admission Test (CEAT 2024).

Ques: What is the application fee for the exam?

Answer: Applicants must pay a one-time non-refundable registration fee of AED 300 (~ USD 82) for the CAET 2024 exam.

Ques: Is the EmSAT/SAT score is mandatory requirement for applying?

Answer: A valid EmSAT/SAT score is required for the application. If you have not taken the test yet, you can indicate so during registration by selecting “yet to appear” under the EmSAT/SAT requirements. However, a valid scorecard must be provided at the time of selection.

Ques: What documents do I have to provide in order to apply as an International Student?

Answer: International students are foreign nationals other than UAE and India. Indian candidates who have secured an OCI/PIO card on or after 04.03.2021 shall also be considered international students.

International students need to provide the following documents:

Ques: I am an Indian student residing in India. How can I join IIT Delhi—Abu Dhabi?

Answer: Admission to IITD-AD will be subject to fulfilment of the eligibility criteria and through JEE Advanced, following the prescribed seat matrix set by JoSAA rules, which will be announced after the JEE Advance 2024 results are declared. Once the JEE Advanced 2024 results are declared, the official authorities of IITD-AD will issue guidelines for the students who have cleared the JEE Adv Exam.

Ques: I am an Indian citizen living abroad, how can I apply for admission to IITD Abu Dhabi?

Answer: If you are an Indian citizen living abroad and have secured an OCI/PIO card on or after 04.03.2021, you shall be considered an international student and hence can apply for CAET 2024. The applicants need to provide:

  • National Identification Card
  • Scorecards of grade 12th
  • Valid EmSAT/SAT scorecard
  • English proficiency test scorecard (e.g., EmSAT English, TOEFL, IELTS)

Ques: I am an Indian expatriate residing in the UAE, I have studied in the UAE some years but not 5 years. Can I apply?

Answer: You cannot directly apply for CEAT 2024 as it mandatorily requires 5 years of schooling in UAE (grades 8-12). However, you can apply to JEE Advanced 2024, and admissions to IITD-AD will be as per the prescribed seat matrix set by JoSAA rules, which will be announced after the JEE Advanced 2024 results are declared.
