NEET-UG 2022 Cut-off: Know the Expected Cut-off Marks & Percentile

NEET-UG 2022 Cut-off will be announced by NTA (National Testing Agency) following the declaration of the NEET result. A cut-off score is the minimum marks required to qualify the exam.

The NEET cut-off is divided into two categories:

  • Admission cut-off
  • Qualifying cut-off

Admission cut-off is the last rank at which a candidate will be admitted, whereas Qualifying cut-off is the minimum marks that a candidate must score to pass the exam.

The cut-off is determined by several factors, including the difficulty level of the exam, the number of candidates, their performance, the number of seats available and so on.

NEET 2022 Result Date (Tentative):

NTA releases the NEET 2022 Result within one month after the exam. The Tentative date of NEET 2022 result is expected to be released around August 16, 2022 as the exam was held on 17th July 2022. Also the scorecard of NEET 2022 will be sent to the candidate’s registered email address from the respective authorities. Considering the previous years trend the NEET 2022 result declared around 30 days of exam.

NEET-UG 2022 Cut-off (Tentative):

NTA will release the NEET-UG 2022 result along with the cut-off score on its official website https://neet.nta.nic.in As depicted by the trends, the NEET-UG 2022 cut-off is expected to be 50% for general category candidates, 45% for PH category candidates, and 40% for reserved category candidates.

Furthermore, NTA may lower the NEET 2022 cut-off marks if there are available seats at later stages of counselling. Based on NEET-UG 2022 cut-off marks, admissions will be granted to 90,825 MBBS, 52,720 AYUSH, 27,948 BDS, 603 BVSc, and BSc Nursing seats along with 200 JIPMER MBBS and 1205 AIIMS MBBS seats in 15 AIMS & 2 JIPMER institutions.

NEET 2022 Tie-breaking Factors:

The tie-breaking rule is applicable if two candidates acquired the same score in NEET 2022. The NEET 2022 tie-breaking rules are as follows:

  1. Candidate with a higher NEET Biology score will be ranked higher on the merit list.
  2. In case the NEET Biology score is also the same, then the candidate with a higher NEET Chemistry score will be ranked higher on the merit list.
  3. If the tie persists even after taking into account the preceding two variables, the candidate with the fewest incorrect responses will be ranked higher on the merit list.

NEET-UG 2022 Result:

NTA will release the NEET-UG 2022 result on its official website https://neet.nta.nic.in tentatively by the end of July. NEET 2022 aspirants need to log into their accounts to check their results.

NEET 2022 scorecards will feature the candidate’s name, application number, DOB, total and subject-wise marks, as well as their NEET All India Rank (AIR). In addition, the result will also show the NEET 2022 cut-off and qualifying status.

NEET 2022 Counseling:

Following the declaration of the NEET 2022 result and merit list, NEET 2022 counselling will be conducted by the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) for 15% All India Quota (AIQ) medical seats in central universities.

The remaining 85% state quota seats will be filled by the respective state counselling process based on the NEET 2022 rank. Each state will announce the NEET 2022 state-wise merit list based on the respective NEET cut-off scores. Candidates who have passed the NEET can also apply for admission to private medical schools through state counselling.

NRI (Non-Residentials Indian), POI (Person of Indian Origin) & OCI (Overseas Citizens of India) can apply under the 15% NRI quota.

Q 1: When will the cut-off for NRI or overseas students be released?

A: The cut-off will be released by NTA along with the declaration of the result soon on its official website https://neet.nta.nic.in.

Q 2: Will the NEET 2022 cut-off be higher for NRI students this year?

A: The NEET 2022 cut-off can be increased or decreased depending on factors such as the difficulty level of the exam, the number of candidates, their performance, the number of seats available and so on.

Q 3: Is there a quota for NRIs at AIIMS?

A: In AIIMS, there is no special AIIMS NRI quota. To get admission in the AIIMS MBBS program, a student must pass the NEET-UG test with a high score. But for the session 2021-22, as a temporary relief, NRI candidates can apply in the Foreign Nationals category for admissions to AIIMS. (7 seats are available at AIIMS).
