IIT Roorkee is one of the oldest engineering institutions in India. It was initially founded as ‘The Roorkee College’ in 1847 which was later renamed as ‘The Thomason College of Civil Engineering’ in 1854. At present, the institution is accredited by NAAC and is approved by AICTE and UGC. Converted in 2001, IIT Roorkee is the seventh IIT recognised as an Institution of National Importance.

The institution offers UG courses in more than 10 disciplines of Engineering and Architecture; PG in 55 disciplines of Engineering, Applied Science and Architecture and planning. Along with this, the university offers 134 online courses, 1 part time course and 96 full-time courses. Seat Matrix at IIT Roorkee:

In India, the allocation of the seats across the various engineering colleges, including IIT is facilitated by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). The JoSAA counsellings are generally conducted post the results of JEE Advanced.

Along with JOSAA, bodies like Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB), or the concerned State Government/Institute also conduct the counselling but after the declaration of result/ranks of JEE (Main)- 2023.

The result of JEE Main and Advanced gives away the two ranks of any student- All India Rank & All India Category Rank.
